How do in-app banners work (temp)?
Understanding in-app banners in the temp app
In-app banners are short cards that appear at the top of your screen when something important happens with a shift. They are a backup for push notifications, texts, and emails. Even if a notification does not reach your phone, the banner will be waiting for you the next time you open the app.
Where banners appear
Banners appear on:
- Shifts
- My Shifts
- Payments
- Schedule
Banners do not appear on:
- Chat
- Fairly Thrive
- More
- The Notifications section (the bell icon)
- What's New (What's New still comes first when you open the app)
How the stack works
- Banners stack newest to oldest, so the newest one sits on top.
- You work through them one at a time.
- You should only ever have a few. Banners are used for critical updates only.
What gets a banner
- A new chat message
- A Temp Radar request
- A Temp Radar message
- You have been hired
- A shift was cancelled
- A shift time changed
- A counter offer is waiting
The two kinds of banners
Information banners
- These tell you something. No action is needed.
- You can dismiss them with the X at the top right.
- You can always find the information again somewhere else in the app.
- Used for chat messages, Temp Radar, shift cancellations, and counter offers.
Confirmation banners
- These need you to tap a button before they go away.
- There is no X, so they cannot be dismissed or skipped.
- After you confirm, you get a short confirmation banner back.
- Used for being hired and for a shift time change.
Being hired
- The banner shows the clinic name, the shift date, and the shift time.
- Tap Confirm Shift to acknowledge that you have been hired.
- You are already hired and the shift is already on your schedule. Not confirming does not change your hired status.
- Once you confirm, you see a Shift Confirmed banner.
- Confirming also tells the clinic you have seen the shift, which saves them chasing you.
A shift time change
- The banner shows the old time crossed out and the new time beside it.
- Your schedule is already updated.
- Tap Confirm New Time to acknowledge the change.
- If the new time does not work for you, contact the clinic right away using in-app chat or by phone.
- Once you confirm, you see a New Time Confirmed banner.
A shift cancellation
- The banner shows the clinic and the cancelled shift, with the date and time crossed out.
- The shift has already been removed from your schedule. No action is needed.
- Tap Got it to clear the banner.
A new chat message
- The banner shows the clinic name, the shift date and time, a preview of the message, and the time it was sent.
- A Scheduled badge means the message is about a shift you are already booked on.
- A Temp Radar badge means the message came through Temp Radar.
- Tap Reply to go straight to the chat.
- The banner always shows the latest message sent to you.
A Temp Radar request
- A clinic wants to message you about a shift before you are booked.
- Tap Accept to start the conversation. This takes you to the chat screen for that shift.
- Tap Decline if you are not interested.
A counter offer
The banner shows your rate, the clinic's offer, the shift date and time, and the clinic's note if they left one. You have three choices.
- Accept
- You are hired at the clinic's rate for that shift.
- Counter
- Enter your counter rate and an optional reason (up to 100 characters).
- Tap Send Counter. You get a Counter Sent banner and we notify you when the clinic responds.
- Your counter cannot be higher than the clinic's counter.
- Decline
- Add an optional note for the clinic (up to 100 characters), then tap Send Decline.
- You get an Offer Declined banner.
You can also find counter offers again under the Counter tab in My Shifts.
If you have more than one banner
- Example: you get hired and then a clinic messages you. You will have two banners, chat on top and hired underneath.
- You can tap Reply and go to the chat. Banners never cover the chat screen.
- When you go back to Shifts, My Shifts, Payments, or Schedule, the banners are still there.
- The hired banner keeps waiting until you tap Confirm Shift.
