How do I negotiate a shift rate and hours?

Fairly Staffing allows you to request schedule modifications when applying for a shift and gives you the ability to negotiate your hourly rate directly with the clinic.

Requesting Modified Hours

When browsing available shifts, look for the green Flexible Hours badge. This indicates that the clinic is open to different start and end times.

To request modified hours:

• Click "Apply" on the shift
• Look for the "Request Modified Hours" section
• Adjust the "Start Time" and "End Time" as needed
• Click "Submit Application"

The clinic will see your requested hours alongside your application.

Receiving and Responding to a Counter Offer

If a clinic is interested in hiring you but wants to negotiate your hourly rate, they will send you a Counter Offer. You will receive notifications alerting you.

To respond to a counter offer:

• Click "Accept" to be instantly hired at the new rate
  • No further confirmation from the clinic is needed
  • If you proposed modified hours, the clinic has already agreed to them
• Click "Counter" to send one final counter offer back to the clinic
  • Enter your final rate as a whole number (no decimals)
  • It must be lower than your original rate, but higher than the clinic's offer
  • Add a brief note explaining your counter offer (optional)

• Click "Decline" to reject the clinic's counter offer
  • Your application will remain active at your original rate, meaning the clinic could still choose to hire you later
  • Add a brief note explaining why you declined (optional)

Withdrawing Your Application

If you choose to send a final Counter offer, you will enter an "Awaiting Response" state. If you change your mind while waiting for the clinic to respond, you can withdraw your application.

To withdraw:

• Click the "Withdraw Application" link under your pending counter offer
• Confirm the withdrawal when prompted
  • This cancels your counter offer and removes your application entirely from the shift.
